Charleston, South Carolina ... the name invokes a rich history, Southern hospitality and old-world charm. Founded in 1670 by royal grant, "Charles Town" quickly established itself as the commercial center of the South.  Little has changed about this fact, as the Charleston area remains a vibrant, thriving port city.

Attractions
Downtown Charleston is only minutes away from the Sheraton's front door, offering innumerable options to relax and tour this historic city. Walk the City Market, with its open bazaar and dozens of restaurant options. Or take a carriage ride tour, learning about the city's grand history at a leisurely pace.  Perhaps take in a boat ride and tour of Fort Sumter, the Civil War fortress which saw the opening salvo of the war.  And don't forget to tour the USS Yorktown, the WWII-era aircraft carrier offering access to nearly every deck on the ship. The city's numerous parks and greenways offer wonderful settings at every turn; be sure to check out White Point Gardens on The Battery - a must see!

North Charleston boasts an impressive array of cutting-edge corporations. The Boeing Company announced plans to open a facility for the manufacture of its new 787 Dreamliner.
